Spring Festival at Kings Park - 2016

A beautiful sunny, slightly cool day heralded the first day of Spring!

We've just come out of the coldest month of August in the last 22 years and well as the wettest in the last 12 years.

Not that we can complain...our average highest temperature is around the 18C (64F) mark and the minimum average temperature around the 5C (41F) mark. Not bad at all!

The temperatures are even higher in northern West Australia, where this winter they actually experienced record heat, with the hottest July day with 38,3C and the hottest June night with 28,8C.  How about those temperatures for winter?

But let's get back to my favourite season - Spring!
For the last 51 years Kings Park - Perth's inner-city Botanic Gardens,  has held the Spring Festival during the month of September.

A day off work was just ideal for a visit, and I joined two ex-colleagues for a few hours to walk around the park.

Hope you also enjoy the wonderful wildflower display and the photo overload...

Gardeners were still busy planting some paper daisies.

A new piece of art, was a recent addition to the park

    1. Sadly that's how it works, the heat starts here and the cold over there. The red bridal dress was unusual, but suited her.

  2. It never ceases to amaze me that you are talking about winter and we are leaving summer behind. I know it must be "old hat" to you, but my mind still has trouble wrapping around it.

I was SO glad to see all the lovely flowers and the new art sculpture. Thanks for sharing this slice of your life with us. It's all so very lovely and magical.

    1. Thanks Elizabeth. It is strange how half the world is in winter, the other half in summer. Luckily our warmer weather is starting as I'm not a big fan of winter.

  4. Beautiful shots! So nice to have the whole Spring ahead of you. I loved the bride dressed in fully red! I have been telling my friends that white is overrated ;)

    1. Thanks Sara. Maybe it's time brides changed from white to some other colour, tradition isn't what it used to be ...

  5. Dearest Sami,
Wow, what a burst of colors and blooms for your spring period.
It all looks rather subtropical to me and one indeed cannot complain about the cold.
    Sending you hugs,
    Mariette
