Monday Mural - Beam me up

Another one of the murals I saw in Cascais, during my visit to Portugal.
This was was painted during the Muraliza 2016 initiative, by Portuguese artist Gonçalo Ribeiro, AKA MAR, using elements of Japanese culture and comic strip art, his characters are multicoloured and surreal.
Found in Rua Estrela do Mar 830, Cascais.

  1. Definitely surreal. I felt like I was on an acid trip (although I'm not sure what an acid trip would feel like). This is a real trip (and not just to Portugal, either).

    1. I like the acid trip analogy Elizabeth, although I don't know what it would feel like either, lol.

  2. It's a little strange, but not offensive.

    1. Thanks Andrew, not my kind of "creature" either, but it's fun.

  3. Also a mural that tries to explain the working of drugs to fill the brain I think. And every artist has his own idea how to do it.

  4. It is surreal for sure and I guess MUTA means "mutated"?
Reminds me a bit of the warnings on cigarette-packages, just in nice!

    1. Yes, could be short for mutated. Thanks Iris.

  5. The image certainly is strange, but the colors are terrific. This mural was a great find.

  6. Definitely weird; but that's a good thing. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.

    1. Thanks ODP. Some murals are really weird, but art is subjective, so some people might find them beautiful.

  7. Goodness that's a big one Sami! His style looks a wee bit familiar, I wonder if he's been to Perth?

    1. I thought the same when I came across it, I think there must be another artist with a similar style.

  8. I didn't see this one, Sami. We were only there on a quick overnight stay but I liked the place a lot.
